Just Another Day

"Any idiot can handle a crisis, it's day to day living that wears you out." - Chekhov

I ran into a British architect this evening and we talked about a number of issues, politics being one of them. Surprised? He said that he met two people in the past week who said they supported Bush. This is the first time in 4 years that he has heard someone say that. Now, I know that the ex-pat vote is going to be overwhelmingly for Kerry but by sheer force of numbers and the fact that the electorate is so split overall one would think that there would be more willing to admit this. My new colleague explained that this was a phenomenon in the UK during Thatcher's time, i.e., few people would admit to supporting her but she managed to win the votes anyway. If you're ashamed to say you support someone, why the hell would you vote for them?
